Jonay Bacallado, illustrator born in the Canary Islands (Spain), finishes his studies of Fine Arts in Barcelona and starts his career for various spanish and american publishers as a children’s book illustrator.
His interests in animation and concept art led him to study a Master Degree in those fields. His works as a concept artist for the film industry began with Mel Gibson's Apocalypto, followed by James Cameron’s Avatar, HBO's Rome and John Carter of Mars (Walt Disney/Pixar).
His collaboration with Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Costume Designer Mayes Rubeo continues in Warcraft, The Great Wall and Thor: Ragnarok. He has been part of 20 projects during his career so far, including feature films, series and animation projects.
His most recent works as Senior Costume Illustrator includes: Marvel's Wandavision, winner of the Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes Award at the 73rd Emmys; upcoming DC’s Blue Beetle (Warner Bros); Thor: Love and Thunder and Werewolf by Night (Marvel tudios) and a collaboration with Jonathan Nolan for an upcoming project.
